Lee Batten, an Estill, South Carolina native, has been named the 2011 Lowcountry Race for the Cure® Committee Chairperson.
Lee has been such a dedicated and supportive volunteer through the years and we are so excited to have her come on board as this year’s committee chairperson,” said Michelle Temple Reza, fund development manager. “There is no doubt that she will be a valuable asset to our team and help us make this year’s Race the best one yet.”
Batten has been a long-time supporter of the Lowcountry Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. She first served the organization by volunteering her time to stuff Race packets and later became the registration/packet-stuffing chair in 2008 and 2009.
I began my journey with Komen several years ago and feel so fortunate to be able to support this worthwhile organization,” says Batten. “I don't know anyone who hasn't been affected by this disease whether it’s themselves, friends or family and I want to do everything I can to help raise awareness. I’m thrilled to have been elected this year’s committee chairperson and hope that everyone in our community will join us this year in our fight against breast cancer.”
