2009 GRANT RECIPIENTS AWARD LUNCHEON




SUSAN G. KOMEN FOR THE CURE® AWARDS LARGEST GRANT FUNDING IN ITS HISTORY

On April 1, 2009, representatives from 14 Lowcountry nonprofit organizations attended the annual grants luncheon hosted by the Lowcountry Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure at Carrabbas Italian Grill in Mount Pleasant. Grants totaling more than $674,000 were awarded to the organizations serving the Komen Lowcountry Affiliate’s thirteen-county service area, the largest grants distribution in the affiliate’s history. In addition, the Affiliate is proud to announce that the grants funded for 2009-2010 will cover every county in its service area, which includes: Allendale, Bamberg, Barnwell, Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Georgetown, Hampton, Horry, Jasper, and Orangeburg counties.

The awarded grants will be used to further the mission of Susan G. Komen for the Cure: providing breast health and/or breast cancer education, outreach, screening services, and treatment support to women in need throughout the Lowcountry who might not otherwise receive the services. The Affiliate has invested more than $3 million in grants funding since its inception.
