QUARTETS TO DELIVER SONGS TO MOM IN SUPPORT OF THE LOWCOUNTRY AFFILIATE OF SUSAN G. KOMEN FOR THE CURE®
CHARLESTON, SC --- Show Mom you care by giving her a unique Mother's Day gift. Quartets from the Charleston Barbershop Chorus will deliver "Songs for Mom" Saturday, May 9, 2009, throughout the Charleston area as a way to support the Lowcountry Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.
Wearing black pants, red-and-white-striped vests and black bowties, the a cappella quartets will visit restaurants, schools, offices or homes to sing two songs, deliver a single rose provided by Belva's Flower Shop and show support of a cause that means the world to a mother. The cost is as little as $75 for a "Song for Mom" with $25 going to the Lowcountry Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. Singing deliveries for Mother's Day are limited. To place your order by credit card, call the Charleston Barbershop Chorus at (843) 577-7577 or email your request to bartfraney@homesc.com. For more information, visit the Charleston Barbershop Chorus online at chasbarbershop.tripod.com.
The Lowcountry Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure—along with those who generously support us with their talent, time and resources—is working to better the lives of those facing breast cancer in our community. We join more than 100,000 breast cancer survivors and activists around the globe as part of the world’s largest and most progressive grassroots network fighting breast cancer. Through events like the Komen Lowcountry Race for the Cure, we have invested more than $3 million in local breast health and breast cancer awareness projects in 12 counties. As of April 1, 2009, Horry County will become our 13th county in our service area. Up to 75 percent of net proceeds generated by the Komen Lowcountry Affiliate stay in our 13-county service area while the remaining income goes to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Award and Research Grant Programs supporting research, awards and educational and scientific programs around the world. In 2008, Komen National awarded $100,000 million dollars to research and education. Join us by calling (843) 556-8011 or visiting us online at www.komenlowcountry.org.
